Phantom II – Enabler draws inspiration from haunted nights spent in a former speakeasy in Denver, the enigmatic culture of absinthe in Spain and France, and the lingering “ghosts” of addiction. The piece reflects how the mind can deceive itself, mistaking past vices or memories as companions when they are, in truth, destructive forces. Rooted in real ghost stories and unexplained occurrences at the bar I frequented, the illustration imagines a spectral bartender returning to serve spirits of another kind. It blurs the line between literal hauntings and the figurative ones we carry within.
