Pets takes inspiration from the massive spiders that emerge in the forests of the U.S. East Coast during summer and fall, their webs sprawling and intricate. Beyond its ode to these unsettling creatures, the piece also reflects on the tangled dynamics of toxic relationships—where need, control, and entrapment blur together. Like a spider and its prey, or a pet and its owner, it asks the unsettling question: who is really in control?
