A Creature Was Stirring began as an experiment in drawing real locations, combined with my desire to create a dark Christmas piece. Inspired by a friend’s supposedly haunted home, the illustration depicts a dilapidated, abandoned living room where a past Christmas flickers to life while snow blows through broken windows. An ominous, malevolent presence haunts the space, warning that any who dare enter may meet a deadly fate. The piece transforms a familiar, cozy setting into a scene of dark violence and foreboding, blending holiday nostalgia with horror. Through this work, I aimed to evoke a chilling atmosphere that lingers long after the viewer looks away.
